Clase Azul Mezcal Gurrero
Clase Azul Mezcal Guerrero is a luxury, artisanal mezcal that highlights one of Mexico’s most unique and lesser-known regions, Guerrero. Unlike many mezcals that rely on more common agave varieties, this expression is crafted from 100% wild Papalote agave, a rare plant that grows in the mountainous, humid highlands near the Pacific coast. This environment gives the spirit a distinctive balance of coastal and forest influences.
Produced using traditional mezcal methods, the agave is slow-cooked and distilled in small batches, preserving its natural character. Bottled at around 42% to 44% ABV, it delivers a full-bodied yet refined experience, emphasizing elegance over intensity.
The profile is notably aromatic and complex, leaning away from heavy smoke and instead focusing on freshness and nuance. It features bright notes of grapefruit peel and citrus, layered with herbal elements such as rosemary and fresh wood. Subtle undertones of butter, nuts, and delicate florals add softness, while the palate introduces hints of seaweed, pepper, and light tobacco. The smokiness is present but restrained, woven gently into the overall profile rather than dominating it.
The finish is clean, fresh, and slightly savory, with lingering citrus, herbal notes, and a soft, elegant smoke.
A defining feature of Clase Azul Mezcal Guerrero is its presentation. Each bottle is a handcrafted ceramic decanter inspired by the culture and artistry of Guerrero, making every piece unique and highly collectible.
Produced in limited quantities, this mezcal stands out as a refined and contemporary expression of the category, offering a sophisticated alternative to more intensely smoky styles while showcasing the complexity of rare agave and regional terroir.
