Raphael First Label Sauvignon Blanc
The Raphael Cabernet Franc Rosé is a standout example of why this grape has become the darling of the North Fork. Unlike many rosés that feel like an afterthought, this one is intentionally crafted from estate-grown Cabernet Franc to capture a specific balance of savory depth and bright, summery fruit. It’s bone-dry and leans into the elegant, salmon-hued style found in traditional French rosés.
The nose is surprisingly complex, skipping the overly sugary scents for a mix of wild strawberry, white peach, and a distinct herbal snap that reminds you it’s made from a red grape. On the palate, it’s crisp and incredibly clean. You get those red berry flavors up front, but they’re quickly followed by a refreshing, flinty minerality and a hint of white pepper that gives the wine real character.
This is a fantastic bottle for a long lunch or an outdoor dinner. Its natural acidity and savory edge make it a great match for grilled salmon, Niçoise salad, or even spicy fish tacos. It also handles a bit of salt beautifully—think prosciutto-wrapped melon or a plate of fresh feta and olives.
